Mitch Albers Earns NCC Player of Week Nod

Freshman Mitch Albers earned the North Central Conference's Player of the Week honor for his performance in UNO's 96-88 win at North Dakota last Saturday.
Albers, from Papillion, helped rally the Mavs from a nine-point deficit midway through the second half. He scored 19 second-half points, including eight straight to give UNO the lead for good, and finished with 25 points on the game.
He connected on 7 of 10 shots from the field, hit both of his three-point attempts, was 9 for 10 from the free throw line and added two rebounds, two assists and three steals.
The Mavericks, 20-5, return home to close the regular season this week with a Thursday night game against Minnesota Duluth and a Saturday matinee against Minnesota State.
The win last Saturday also secured a first-round home game in the NCC tournament next Wednesday, March 5.
