Johnston Named NCC Player of the Week

Denny Johnston's steady performance in UNO's two North Central Conference games last week has earned him his second league player of the week award.
The senior from Omaha Westside shares this week's honor with Minnesota State's Atila Santos.
Johnston scored 18 points against Augustana and 19 in leading the Mavericks to Saturday's home-court win over St. Cloud State. He connected on 70.6 percent of his shots from the field, including 4-for-7 shooting on three-pointers. He was also 9-for-11 from the line and had just one turnover to go with five steals and five assists while playing 74 of 80 minutes.
Johnston also earned the award on Dec. 10.
The Mavericks get back on the court Saturday afternoon, hosting No. 4-ranked South Dakota at Sapp Fieldhouse at 4.
