Nebraska-Omaha and Ohio State Tie, 3-3

OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior Jerad Kaufmann made 32 saves, helping the Mavericks snap a four-game home losing streak as they tied Central Collegiate Hockey Association rival Ohio State, 3-3, Friday night at the Qwest Center Omaha.
With the tie the Mavericks move to 12-13-4 on the season and 9-10-4 in CCHA play, while the Buckeyes are now 9-19-3 and 5-14-2. UNO and OSU will wrap up their two-game series Saturday night at 7:05.
After a rocky first period that saw UNO fall behind 2-0 on goals by Buckeye's Kyle Hood and Tom Fritsche, the Mavericks were able to even things up quickly in the second frame.
Sophomore Eddie Del Grosso got UNO on the board 2:20 into the second when he ripped a shot from the blue line past OSU's Joseph Palmer. Junior Dan Charleston and freshman Joey Martin got assists on the goal.
Thirty seconds later Sophomore Dan Swanson knotted the game at 2-all. Swanson took a pass from freshman Nick Von Bokern and was able to weave his wave through the Buckeye defense to score the equalizer at 2:50 of the second.
OSU broke the tie just 33 seconds into the third stanza on a Kyle Reed score, giving the Buckeyes a 3-2 edge.
But the Mavs squared the game 3-3 less than two minutes later as senior Bill Bagron was able to spin away from a pair of OSU defenseman in front of the Buckeye net and score the game-tying goal at 2:23 of the third.
Kaufmann stopped 32 of the 35 shots and keep UNO in the game for most of the night, but it was in the final minute of regulation when he was especially huge for the Mavs. With the game tied at 3-3 Kaufmann made a sprawling leg save on an OSU breakaway chance to keep thing even and send the game into overtime.
