No. 4 Coyotes Defeat UNO, 78-66

No. 4 ranked South Dakota fired 13 three-pointers and used 13-point runs in each half to pin a 78-66 North Central Conference loss on the University of Nebraska at Omaha at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse Saturday.
The Mavericks, ranked No. 9 in the North Central Region, are now 16-7 overall and 2-5 before playing their next three games on the road. South Dakota, ranked No. 1 in the region, improved to 20-1 with its school-record 18th straight win. USD is 6-0 in the NCC.
UNO scored eight straight points to come from seven points down in the first half and take an 18-17 lead with 9:28 to play on Cayla Hargrove's three-pointer. But the Mavericks scored just one field goal in the final 7:14 of the half and the Coyotes put together a 13-0 run and took a 38-28 lead into the break.
The Mavericks battled back after halftime and trailed by three as Alyssa Green scored seven straight points, trimming USD's lead to 42-39. That was as close as the Mavs could get, however. The Coyotes reeled off 13 straight, capped by three-pointers by Maggie Youngberg and Ashley Robinette for a 55-39 lead with 13:18 to play.
Green led the Mavericks, who were hampered by 26 turnovers, with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Lindsey Klug chipped in with 10 points.
Jeana Hoffman led USD with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Robinette added 14 points, Shannon Daly 12 and Amber Hegge 11. The Coyotes were 13-for-34 from behind the arc.
UNO's three-game road swing starts with games at St. Cloud State Thursday and at Minnesota State, Mankato next Saturday.
