Jenkins Named to All-NCC Team

Junior guard Michael Jenkins was named to the 11-member all-North Central Conference team by a vote of the league's coaches and senior guard Denny Johnston has been named the defensive player of the year.
Jenkins leads the Mavericks in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per game overall and 16.3 in league play. He was sixth in the NCC in scoring and third in free throw percentage, hitting 86.8 percent from the line.
Johnston, fifth in field goal percentage, at 57.4, in the league, was seventh in steals, averaging 1.25 per game. He averaged 13.3 points per game in league play and was third in three-point percentage at 51.4.
Sophomore guard Andrew Bridger and Johnston earned honorable mention on the squad.
The Mavericks finished fourth in the regular season, then captured their second NCC tournament title, winning three straight games. UNO, 24-9 on the year, will play in its 11th NCAA Division II tournament, facing Fort Lewis Saturday night at 8:30 in the first round of the North Central Regional in Winona, Minn.
