Mavericks Sweep Missouri Western

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha improved to 3-4 on the season with a sweep of a Sunday doubleheader over Missouri Western, 4-3 and 5-3. The Mavericks will play Indianapolis Monday at 11 a.m. in Joplin, Mo., in their next outing.
The Mavericks, who improved to 3-4 on the season, pounded out nine hits in the first game with Chris Weimer leading the UNO offense, driving in three runs, including his fourth double of the season.
Chris Kessinger picked up the win, improving to 2-1 on the season, while Brian Strawn came in to earn his first save of the season.

Once again, Weimer led the Maverick attack in game two, blasting a double and a home run, as UNO was able to withstand a late Griffon comeback to squeak out the 4-3 victory.
The Mavericks scored two runs in the bottom of the first and third innings to race out to a 4-0 lead. After holding MWSU scoreless in the first five innings, the Griffons scored three in the top of the sixth inning, to close the gap to one run, but the MWSU could get no closer.
Tim Huber picked up the win, improving to 1-1 on the season, while Dustin Koca came in to earn his first save.
