Mavs to Host Coyotes Wednesday

The University of Nebraska-Omaha softball team's doubleheader against the Coyotes of South Dakota has been switched to Claussen-Westgate Field on Wednesday, Apr. 2, at 2 and 4 p.m.
The teams were slated to play in Vermillion, but the field is unplayable because of a snowstorm on Monday. As a result, the April 22 doubleheader between the teams in Omaha has been moved to Vermillion. Game times will be determined later.
Leslie Svoboda and Melissa Negrete were named North Central Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week today, earning the recognition for their performances during a recent nine game stretch.
Svoboda earned the conference's top honor for the second-consecutive week, collecting a hit in all but one of the Mavs' nine contests. The Lincoln, Neb. native, hit .500 on the week with a double, a home run, 10 RBIs, 11 runs scored, seven stolen bases and six walks.
Negrete was named NCC Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season, appearing in six of UNO's nine games and posting a 3-0 record. A sophomore out of Millard South, Negrete, struck out 13 while allowing just seven earned runs over 25 innings of work.
UNO was 6-3 last week, sweeping doubleheaders from Nebraska-Kearney and No. 23 Minnesota State, Mankato before playing five games over the weekend in the UNO Softball Classic at Dill Field.
