
Mavs Hit the Road for NCC Matchups

The University of Nebraska at Omaha softball team will take its 12-game winning streak on the road this weekend for a pair of North Central Conference doubleheaders. The first assignment will be at St. Cloud State on Friday; the second at Minnesota Duluth Saturday. Both begin at noon.
The Mavericks, ranked No. 11 in the latest NFCA Division II poll, and No. 4 in the North Central Region, are 34-6 on the season and lead the NCC with a 6-0 mark. St. Cloud State is 30-11 and 3-3 and ranked No. 9 in the region. Minnesota Duluth, which plays South Dakota Friday, is 13-13 and 0-4.
UNO, which completed its home season with a sweep over Augustana Wednesday, will finish its NCC season with a doubleheader at South Dakota next Tuesday.
Notes: Jenifer McDowell will take a nine-game hitting streak and Treightin Yates an eight-game streak into this weekend's play...The Mavericks lead St. Cloud State 33-26 and UMD 20-8 in the all-time series...Senior third baseman Leslie Svoboda leads the team with a .451 batting average, 7 homers and 49 RBIs...UNO is batting .338 as a team, which leads the NCC...UNO is 22-3 since March 18...the Mavericks have 17 games in which they have 10 or more hits...UNO finished its home season 16-3...freshman Beth Haley (14-2, 2.09 ERA) and sophomore Melissa Negrette (11-2, 2.23 ERA) have combined for 31 starts in 40 games...Svoboda and Chanel Reaves are tied for the team-lead with 20 stolen bases.
