Mavericks And Vikings Meet In NCC Clash

Due to playing conditions at the Ballpark at Boys Town, this weekend's doubleheaders have been switched. The Mavericks will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday and the Vikings will be in Omaha on Sunday for North Central Conference action. Both doubleheaders begin at 1 p.m.
The Vikings are the last team to beat the Mavericks when they won 9-8 in Omaha on Mar. 28. Sunday will also be Senior Day when seven Mavericks will be honored.
Kessinger named NCC Pitcher of the Week
Chris Kessinger has been named North Central Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. Kessinger extends the Mavericks' streak of NCC weekly honors to five.
Kessinger, a junior from Sioux Falls, S.D., threw his third complete game of the season over the weekend against Minnesota Duluth in a 10-1 Maverick win. He struck out 10 Bulldogs, allowed three singles and walked just one batter. Kessinger also picked up his team-leading seventh victory.
Previous NCC Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week for the Mavs include Tim Huber, Mat Eikmeier, Dustin Koca, Bryan Frew and Chris Kessinger.
Last Week
The Mavericks extended their win streak to 14 games sweeping Minnesota Duluth and Fort Hays State at home. The sweep of the Bulldogs improved the Mavericks to 8-0 in the conference. UNO scored 59 runs in six games last week and allowed just 27 runs.
Looking Down the Road...
After Sunday the Mavs will play their next eight games on the road traveling to Washburn, Fort Hays State and St. Cloud State before returning home April 29 against Washburn.
