Mavs Remain Perfect in Conference Play

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha softball team extended its winning streak to 14 games Friday, taking two games from NCC foe St. Cloud State, shutting out the Huskies 8-0 in game one, and posting a 12-5 win in game two.
The No. 11 Mavericks (36-6, NCC 8-0) will continue conference play Saturday at Minnesota Duluth with a noon doubleheader.
Beth Haley led UNO in the first game, striking out six and allowing only one hit in the shutout performance, while Chanel Reaves and Leslie Svoboda led the offensive attack with a combined four RBIs.
Brianna Cataudella hit her third home run of the season, a solo shot in the fifth to add to the Mavs' lead.
The Mavs trailed 3-1 in the second game until Amanda Bader's RBI single jump-started a five-run sixth inning. Lindsey Slocum and Jenifer McDowell both contributed singles to the effort adding three more RBIs. The Mavs put the game away with a six-run seventh inning.
Allysa Fligg picked up the win after entering the game in the fifth inning to relieve Melissa Negrete. Haley would come in for the save with two outs remaining in the sixth.
