Mavs Continue Winning Ways

Duluth, Minn. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha softball team added another conference win Saturday in a scheduled doubleheader against Minnesota-Duluth. The Mavs recorded the 10-6 win before 30-degree weather canceled the second game.
The No. 11 Mavericks (37-6, NCC 9-0) will travel to Vermillion, S.D. Tuesday to continue conference play with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader against the Coyotes. UNO swept South Dakota earlier in the season in a non-conference doubleheader at Claussen-Westgate Field.
The Mavs jumped out to a commanding lead in the third when Jenifer McDowell's second home run of the year brought in three runs to put the Mavs ahead 4-0.
Brianna Cataudella gave UNO the insurance it would need with her two-run shot in the sixth and two-run single in the seventh. Her four RBIs would be key to stopping the Bulldogs, who rallied with a four-run seventh inning.
Beth Haley improved to 16-2, pitching seven complete innings and striking out three.
