Strawn, Frew Power Mavs to Two More Wins

A grand slam by Brian Strawn and two knocks by Bryan Frew powered the University of Nebraska at Omaha baseball team to a North Central Conference doubleheader sweep of Augustana, 7-1 and 10-3, extending the team's win streak to 18 games, Sunday afternoon at Boys Town.
UNO tied its school record for longest winning streak, last accomplished in 2006. The wins moved the Mavericks to 30-9 on the year, and a perfect 12-0 in NCC play. The Vikings fell to 6-26, 1-11.
The Mavericks were held to only four hits in the opener, but one of those was a first-inning grand slam by Strawn. It was the team's third slam in as many games, as Evan Porter connected on one in each of the Mavs' games at Augustana Saturday. Chris Weimer added a two-run homer in the sixth inning, his 14th of the year.
Taylor Weisbeck (4-0) went six innings, allowing just one run on four hits, walking two and striking out seven.
Frew hit two home runs in the second game, including a two-run homer that highlighted a six-run fourth inning. Strawn had two RBIs in the game, with a groundout and a single, while Dustin Koca also drove in two runs, with a single and double.
Tim Huber tossed his fourth-consecutive complete game, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits, striking out 11. He struck out nine or more in each of the four games.
The Mavericks take a break from conference play this week, instead visiting future MIAA conference foes. Tuesday UNO visits Washburn for a single nine-inning game, then Wednesday the Mavs play a doubleheader at Fort Hays State.
