Mavs Extend Streak to Six

OMAHA, Neb. -- The University of Nebraska-Omaha softball team extended its winning streak to six games Saturday after sweeping North Dakota with a 7-2 decision in the first game and a 12-4 offensive assault in the second game.
Jenifer McDowell led the Maverick offense in the first contest with a two-RBI single to take the lead, while Ashley Lynch's sacrifice fly scored Brianna Cataudella for the game-winning run in the nightcap.
UNO (28-6) is back in action Monday, April 7th in Augustana, S.D., for a 3 p.m. doubleheader against the Vikings.
In game one, McDowell's two-run single in the bottom of the second put the Mavs in front of the Fighting Sioux before Lynch put it away in the fifth with a two-run double.
Beth Haley improved to 11-2, pitching a complete game and striking out four.
A huge six-hit fifth inning propelled the Mavs to the win in game two. The score was tied going in to the bottom of the fifth when Cataudella hit a double to start the six-run rally.
Cataudella then scored the go-ahead run on Lynch's sacrifice fly to left field.
Allysa Fligg upped her season mark to 7-2 after entering in the fourth inning to relieve Melissa Negrete.
