Svoboda, Mavs Cruise Past Vikings

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Leslie Svoboda collected four hits and drove in six runs, including a three-run homer, to spark a 28-hit Maverick attack in a doubleheader sweep over Augustana Monday. UNO extended its winning streak to eight games with 11-4 and 12-3 victories.
The Mavericks are now 30-6 before hosting Northwest Missouri State Tuesday in a doubleheader at Claussen-Westgate Field (82nd and D Streets) at 3 and 5 p.m. Augustana fell to 13-14.
In the opener, Svoboda tripled home Chanel Reaves in the first inning and jump-started a six-run fifth with a three-run homer, her seventh of the year. UNO gathered eight hits in the inning, including a pair of singles by Lindsey Slocum. Beth Haley (12-2) struck out four and gave up six hits in six innings to get the win.
In the second game, the Mavericks overcame a 3-1 Augustana lead with a four-run fourth inning that was fueled by Slocum's two-run homer. UNO bunched seven runs in the fifth, using six hits and two Viking errors. Alyssa Fligg improved to 8-2 with the five-inning win, giving up seven hits.
Svoboda, a senior from Lincoln, Neb., padded her career lead in home runs with her 41st.
