Three Mavs Named to Academic All-NCC Team

University of Nebraska at Omaha baseball players Brian Goliber, Bryan Frew and Josh Shirk were recognized for their accomplishments off the playing field, being named to the North Central Conference Academic All-Conference Team.
Goliber, a junior from Orange City, Iowa, earned his second selection. While starting 42 of the team's 50 games behind the plate, Goliber has maintained a 3.63 GPA, majoring in Civil Engineering.
Frew, a senior accounting major from Grand Island, Neb., was also selected for the second time. Frew is pulling a 3.53 GPA, appearing in the Mavericks starting lineup for every game this year.
Shirk, from Omaha's Millard North High School, returned to the team for this, his senior season, after a two-year hiatus. He earns his first Academic All-NCC selection, posting a 3.44 GPA, majoring in secondary education.
The Mavericks finished the regular season with a 19-1 record in conference play (39-11 overall) to earn the top seed in this weekend's conference championship tournament.
