Huber, Frew Taken in MLB Draft

Two seniors from the 2008 North Central Conference champion Mavericks, Tim Huber and Bryan Frew, were selected in the Major League Baseball draft, along with a former Mav, Tyler Cloyd.
Huber, a pitcher from Omaha who compiled a 9-1 record and 3.22 earned run average, was taken in the 27th round by the Kansas City Royals. Frew, an outfielder from Grand Island, Neb., was claimed by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 43rd round. Frew batted .343 and had 11 home runs and 43 RBIs for the Mavericks last season.
Cloyd, from Bellevue, Neb., was 8-2 with a 1.80 ERA and also batted .,282 with eight homers and 36 RBIs in 2006 for the Mavericks.
In addition, outfielder Chris Weimer was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association All-America second team. Frew, pitcher Chris Kessinger and designated hitter Dustin Koca all earned honorable mention.
