Men's Basketball to Face Iowa State

The Maverick men's basketball team has added a Division I opponent to its 2008-09 schedule. Head coach Derrin Hansen announced that his team will play Iowa State in an exhibition game on Saturday, November 8 in Ames, Iowa. Game time is 12:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.
UNO last played the Cyclones on December 31, 1991, losing 114-57 in Ames.
The Mavericks have 10 returning players from the team that went 25-7 last season. UNO won the final NCC championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II Regionals. The 25 wins established a school record. Senior guard #Michael Jenkins# as an all-NCC selection last season after averaging more than 16 points per game.
The Mavericks will open the regular season on Saturday, November 15 when they host Doane at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
