Ommen Leads Mavericks To Second Place Finish

MARSHALL, Minn. - Junior #Erin Ommen# fired a final round 72 on Sunday to lead Nebraska Omaha to second place in the Southwestern Minnesota State Mustang Invite. Ommen finished with a two-day score of 149 to finish as the top individual golfer out of a field of 102.
The individual title was the second of the fall season for Ommen who also won the Drury University Fall Shootout earlier this month.
Sophomore #Dani Suponchick# was second in team scoring. She shot 78 on day two to close with a 165, good for seventh place overall. Junior #Abbey Weddle# shot a final-round 76, improving her score by 6 shots from the previous day, to finish tied for ninth at 158. Sophomore #Amy Powell# had an 81 to score 167 over the two-day event. Freshman #Rebecca Pollock# had a 95 and finished with a two-day total of 176.
As a team, the Mavericks were the low group of the day with a total score of 307. That helped propel them past Concordia-St. Paul into second place. Upper Iowa, the team leader after day one, won the event with a total score of 612. UNO finished at 624, and Concordia-St. Paul shot 634 for third place.
The Mavericks return to the course on Friday, Sept. 26 when they travel to Wayne State.
