KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The UNO softball team will be new to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association this season, but it comes in with a sterling reputation. The Hornets earned 5 first-place votes while the Mavericks earned 4. Central Missouri finished in third place with 2 first-place votes and 84 points overall. The complete poll is below.
The Mavericks won the final North Central Conference Championship in 2008 and made their 19th straight appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Mavericks finished the season with a record of 44-13 and 9-2 in the NCC. The Mavs were eliminated by Minnesota State Mankato in the North Central Regional tournament.
