Purslow Named CCHA Offensive Player of the Week

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Junior forward #Rich Purslow# was named the offensive player of the week by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association today. Purslow had two goals and two assists over the weekend to help the Mavericks win the Mutual of Omaha Icebreaker championship.
Purslow was named the tournament's MVP following the Mavericks' 4-3 win over #10 UMass-Lowell in the championship game. Purslow scored UNO's first goal and assisted on its second as the Mavericks overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat UMass-Lowell in the championship game.
On Friday, Purslow scored his first goal of the season in the second period and then assisted on Terry Broadhurst's game-winner in the third as the Mavericks came from behind to beat Army, 6-4.
The native of Greenlawn, N.Y. finished +3 for the weekend.
In other hockey news, the Mavericks moved into the Division I college hockey rankings, earning the 15th spot in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey poll. UNO had been previously unranked but received 36 points in voting this week.
In addition, the latest power rankings released by Inside College Hockey.com puts the Mavericks at 17th this week. UNO ranked 24th in the preseason power rankings.
The Mavericks play their first road games of the season when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to face the Colgate Red Raiders on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17. Game time is 6:00 p.m. CT both nights from Starr Rink on the Colgate campus.
