Five Mavericks Named To NFCA All-Academic Team

OMAHA, Neb. - Five members of the UNO softball team were named recipients of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association "girls got game" All America Scholar-Athlete Award. To qualify, recipients must have achieved at cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better for the 2008-09 academic year.
UNO's winners from last season include catcher #Julia Krejci# (Physical Education), pitcher #Melissa Negrete# (Management Information Systems), catcher/infielder #Treightin Yates# (Criminology and Criminal Justice), catcher #Beth Harris# (Marketing) and infielder/outfielder #Chelsea Koch# (Social Work).
In addition, the Mavericks placed seven players on the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association's All-Academic Team.
UNO finished the 2009 season with a record of 45-17 and made its 20th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
