Patton Shearer Adds Three High Schoolers For 2010-

Omaha, Neb.- The UNO women's basketball team has announced that three high school seniors have signed letters of intent to attend Nebraska-Omaha and play for the Mavericks for the 2010-11 school year.
Coach Patty Patton-Shearer signed Amanda Woodring and Jordan Spencer out of Omaha Millard West and Stacia Gebers from Superior High School in Superior, Neb.
Woodring finished with 12.2 points per game, three rebounds and four assists on a team that went 19-5 and reached the state semifinals her junior year.
“Amanda has fantastic passing skills and court sense," said Patton Shearer. "She has a unique ability to see the next pass and execute with precision. She also has outstanding range as a shooter.”
Spencer scored 13.5 points a game with 6.8 rebounds while playing with Woodring. She received third team all-Metro and all-state honorable mention honors.
“Jordan is a tenacious defender, rebounder, and a fiery competitor," Patton Shearer said. "Her passion on the floor is motivating as a teammate.”
Gebers averaged 15 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game as Superior went 12-7 her junior year. She earned first team all-area and first team all-conference honors.
“Stacia is an extremely versatile athlete with a tremendous upside," Patton Shearer said. "She has a knack to make the players around her better.”
The Mavericks are 1-2 this year as they prepare to host the UNO Thanksgiving Classic, Friday and Saturday at Sapp Fieldhouse.
