Hot Shooting Mavs Top 100 In Win At Northwest Miss

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Mavericks shot 57 percent as a team and five players scored in double figures in a 104-87 win at Northwest Missouri Saturday night.
The win improved UNO to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA while NWMSU fell to 5-3 and 1-3 in the league. The Mavericks will return home Sunday to host York at 6 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Tyler Bullock was 8-of-12 from the field and 8-of-8 from the free throw line for a game-high 25 points.Torrian Harris also went 8-of-12 to score 20 points off the bench. Dion Curry added 18, Jeff Martin had 16 and Andrew Bridger had 14.
Curry had 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the year. Every other Mav grabbed at least one rebound and UNO won the battle for the boards, 43-36.
The Mavericks topped 50 percent shooting for the sixth time this year with their .571 performance. They were 50 percent in the first half and 67 percent in the second half. NWMSU shot 38 percent from the field.
UNO went 42 percent from 3-point range in the game and 87 percent from the free throw line.
The Bearcats led early in the game by five at 9-4 but a fast break lay-up by Harris and then a jumper by Bullock capped an 8-0 run that gave UNO a 12-9 lead. The Bearcats answered with a 3-pointer and then there were two more ties in the first half before the Mavericks gained the lead for good.
The Mavericks scored 62 points in the second half. They started with a 9-3 lead that gave them a 10-point lead and the Bearcats never got within nine after that.
Edriss Floyd came off the bench to lead Northwest Missouri with 20 points.
