Haley Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Maverick pitcher Beth Haley was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association pitcher of the week after she had a 2-0 record in the team's opening weekend.
Haley went 2-0 in two starts at the South Central Shootout. She had a 0.98 ERA, allowing one earned run in 14 1/3 innings. Haley struck out 17 batters while walking just three. She pitched complete game wins against Southwestern Oklahoma State and St. Mary's and struck out eight and nine, respectively, allowing three hits each game.
She was also named to the Shootout's all-tournament team.
Haley went 20-8 last year with a 1.95 ERA and was the North Central Conference freshman of the year.
The Mavericks will continue action at the Pittsburg State/Missouri Southern Crossover Invite, playing six games in Pittsburg, Kan.
