Mavericks Finish Season at Swimming Nationals

HOUSTON, Texas – The UNO swim team completed the 2008-09 season with a 19th place finish at the NCAA Division II swimming and diving championships at the University of Houston. The Mavericks earned 46 points through the four-day competition.
Drury University of Springfield, Mo. won the meet handily with 618.5 points. Wayne State of Michigan was second with 453.5, and the University of California at San Diego was third with 425 points.
Senior #Lindsey Kline# completed a fine career at UNO with a 14th place finish in the 1,650 yard freestyle. Her time 17:23.79 was nearly five seconds better than her best time of the season.
#Cait Hopkins# had a fourth place finish in the consolation finals of the 100 yard freestyle. She clocked a time of 51.53.
The Mavericks' team of #Kristy Gmeiner#, #Lisa Elworth#, #Katey Howarter# and Hopkins took sixth place in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:30.99.
UNO sent a school-record 14 qualifiers to the national championship meet.
