Jenkins, Brodsack Headline Mavs on All-MIAA Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced today that UNO senior basketball player #Michael Jenkins# was named to the All-MIAA first team. In addition, senior forward #Amanda Brodsack# was picked for the All-MIAA second team for the women.
Maverick guards #Andrew Bridger and Mitch Albers both were named All-MIAA honorable mention on the men's side while junior guard Alyssa Green# earned the same honor on the women's side.
Jenkins led the Mavericks in scoring during the regular season, averaging 17 points per game. He was also third in assists with 80 and second in steals with 38. He ranks third all-time in points scored at UNO with 1,541. He played in his 100th career game on Jan. 21. He led the MIAA in free throw shooting percentage (.826) and set a new school record with 190 free throws made this season. The native of Bellevue, Neb. also earned MIAA Athlete of the Week recognition earlier in the season.
Like Jenkins, Brodsack led the Mavericks in scoring this season with an average of 13.3 points per game. She was the Mavericks leading rebounder, grabbing 209. She also ranked third on the team with 45 assists and in steals with 49. The native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa set a career high for points and rebounds in a game when she had 24 points and 14 boards at Missouri Western on Jan. 3. She equaled that point total at Missouri Southern on Feb. 25. She led the Mavericks with five double-doubles.
The Maverick men will face Fort Hays State University on Thursday, March 5 at 2:15 p.m. in the first round of the MIAA Championships in Kansas City, Mo. The UNO women will take to the court the next night when they face Pittsburg State University in the final game of the first round at 8:15 p.m.
