UNO Faces Rockhurst and Fort Hays State this Week

The 16th-ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha baseball team will travel to Kansas City, Mo., for a game against Rockhurst University on Tuesday, April 14. The Mavs will then return home to host MIAA opponent Fort Hays State in a four-game series. The series starts Friday, April 17 with one game at 2 p.m. On Saturday, April 18, the two teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m., and wrap up on Sunday, April 19 with the final game at 12 p.m.
The Records
Last week, the Mavericks improved their record to 32-11 overall and 22-6 in the MIAA to stay in second place behind Emporia State. UNO won three of four games against Northwest Missouri State over the weekend. The Mavs swept Friday's contests 11-3 and 14-6. The two teams split Saturday's doubleheader with the Bearcats taking game one 5-1, and the Mavs winning the second, 13-7. Rockhurst has a home record of 10-6 and are 27-13 on the season. Fort Hays State is currently fifth in the MIAA with a record of 16-14 in conference. The Tigers are 2-16 on the road and 24-20 overall.
The Coaches
#Bob Herold# is in his tenth season as the UNO head coach. The 1972 graduate of UNO was a 1971 NAIA All-American for the Mavericks. He is 327-195-2 all-time as a college head coach. Herold is assisted by #Chris Gadsden# (10th Season) and Dan McGinn (9th Season). Rockhurst is coached by Gary Burns who is in his 16th season. He has a career record of 482-321 since taking over for the Hawks. Rick Sabath is the head coach for Fort Hays State and is in his third year at the helm. He has a record of 61-50 since taking over the Tigers in 2007. Sabath is assisted by Jason Plourde (third season), and Mike Saddler (second season).
The Series
UNO holds a distinct advantage over Rockhurst with an all-time series record of 20-6. The series with Fort Hays State is much closer, as the Mavs lead by just two games, 9-7.
