Minssen Betters Shot Mark To Lead Mavs at Mule Rel

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – #Heather Minssen# improved her national ranking in the shot put and the UNO track team got a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 meter dash in action at the Central Missouri Mule Relays on Friday afternoon.
Minssen finished first in the shot with a throw of 46 feet, six and a quarter inches. That moves her up one spot to fifth nationally in all of Division II track athletes pending other action over the weekend. Minssen also took fifth place in the discus with a throw of 125 feet, four inches and twelfth in the javelin with a toss of 101 feet, three inches.
Most of the Maverick sprinters had taken some time off following the indoor season, but three UNO runners came back to sweep the top three spots in the 200 meter dash. #Shannon Moore# won the event with a time of 25.17. #Kayla Koepke# was second, just .02 behind Moore. #Anja Puc# finished in third with a time of 25.86.
The Mavericks also got two top-five finishes in the 1,500 meter run. #Cara Kunnemann# finished third in a time of 5:25.48, just ahead of teammate #Janna Brons# who was fourth at 5:26.41.
UNO also got two top-three finishes in the triple jump. #Rasheema Pitt# finished in second with a leap of 37 feet, four and a quarter inches. Kelly Hollman was third at 37 feet, two and a quarter inches.
The Mavericks are back in action on Sunday, April 26 at the Nebraska Open in Lincoln.
