Porter Named ABCA First Team All-American

OMAHA, Neb. - UNO shortstop #Evan Porter# was named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-America First Team today. He was one of two players from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association to make the first team, joining Central Missouri pitcher Chris Matlock.
Porter finished his stellar career at UNO by leading the Mavericks in hitting with a .424 average. He also led the team with 97 hits (a school record), 62 RBI and 10 home runs. The Omaha native was fourth in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in batting average and hits. He is UNO's all-time leader in games played (239), at bats (869), hits (323), doubles (75), home runs (43), runs batted in (249) and total bases (527). He finished his UNO career with a .372 batting average.
Last week, Porter was named to the Rawlings/ABCA All-Region First Team for the South Central region. He was named an All-MIAA First Team selection on May 8.
