MANHATTAN, Kan. – Sprinter #Anja Puc# broke a 23-year old school record in the 800 meter run to lead the UNO track and field team in its final competition before the Division II national championship. The Mavericks were taking part in the Ward Haylett Invitational hosted by Kansas State.
Puc ran the 800 in a time of 2:07.29, shaving nearly two seconds off the record that was set by Janice Moreau in 1986. She edged Emma Erickson, a runner from the University of South Dakota who was running unattached, by just .07 seconds. Erickson was last year's 800 indoor and outdoor champion.
Puc has now run the second fastest time in Division II this season.
In the field, #Heather Minssen# made a slight improvement over her personal best and provisional qualifying mark in the shot put with a toss of 46 feet, ten and a half inches.
