KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The UNO soccer team earned the third spot in the annual pre-season poll of coaches in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association released on Thursday. The Mavericks received 49 points in the voting.
Central Missouri was picked to finish first with six of nine first place votes and 62 points overall. The two-time defending MIAA champs finished three points ahead of Truman State which received three first place votes.
UNO posted a record of 13-6 and finished in third in the MIAA last season. The Mavericks made their seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament, losing to Texas A&M Commerce, 1-0.
The Mavs begin their season on Friday, Aug. 28 when they visit Metro State of Denver, Col.
