SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – #Dani Suponchick# shot a one-over-par 73 for the second day in a row to lead the UNO golf team to a second place finish at the Drury University Fall Shootout. Suponchick was the individual medalist in the event after pulling away from two other golfers in the second and final round at the Rivercut Golf Course.
The University of Southern Indiana won the event, overtaking the Mavericks by shooting a team score of 301 to win by two strokes, 611-613. UNO shot 309 on day two. Host Drury University finished in third place, 14 strokes behind UNO, at 627.
Suponchick played the front side at even par and closed with a back nine score of 37 to edge Southern Indiana's Angela Dehning by two strokes, 146-148. Shweta Galande of Missouri-St. Louis was third overall at 149. With the win, Suponchick earned the first individual medalist honors of her career.
#Abbey Weddle# finished second for the Mavs and sixth overall after carding a score of 78 on Tuesday and finishing with a two-day score of 153. #Armana Christianson# closed with a 76 and a two-day score of 154 to finish in a tie for seventh. #Erin Ommen# shot 82 on Tuesday to finish fourth for UNO at 160. #Rebecca Pollock# was fifth (82-82-164).
The Mavericks return to action on Sunday, Sept. 20 for the two-day Wildwood Lodge Invitational hosted by Concordia St. Paul.
