Former Mav Kessinger Earns Minor League Championsh

Less than four months after winning the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association championship, former UNO pitcher #Chris Kessinger# had more hardware to hoist. Kessinger worked seven strong innings to lead his rookie league team to the Arizona League championship on Sept. 1.
The native of Sioux Falls, S.D. struck out six as the Mariners defeated the Giants 3-2.
Kessinger, Seattle's 37th round pick in this year's Major League Baseball entry draft, finished his season with a record of 5-3 and a 2.45 earned run average in 13 appearances including seven starts.
During his senior season at UNO, Kessinger went 9-4 with a team-leading 3.02 ERA. He struck out 82, and opponents hit just .245 against him. He also appeared in 32 games as a designated hitter, posting a .323 average with three home runs and ten RBI.
