Purslow, Richardson Nab CCHA Player of the Week Ho

OMAHA, Neb. – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that UNO junior forward #Rich Purslow# has been named the league's offensive player of the week for the week ending Jan. 24. In addition, UNO freshman forward #Brandon Richardson# was named the CCM Rookie of the Week. The Mavericks are coming off a pair of wins against Northern Michigan at home last weekend.
Purslow had two goals and an assist and was +2 on Friday as the Mavericks beat the Wildcats, 7-2. He added another assist and was +1 the next night as UNO finished off the sweep with a 5-3 win. The native of Greenlawn, N.Y. leads the Mavericks in scoring with 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points. This is his second offensive player of the week nod this season. He first earned the award on Oct. 12.
Richardson had the most productive offensive game for a UNO player this season when he had four points (one goal, three assists) in UNO's 7-2 win over Northern on Friday. He added another assist on Saturday in the 5-3 win. The native of San Clemente, Calif. is now ninth in scoring for the Mavericks with four goals and eight assists for 12 points. He is also UNO's leading freshman scorer. This is his first CCM Rookie of the Week award.
The Mavericks return to action on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29 and 30 when they visit the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Both games start at 7:05 p.m. CT from the Joyce Center in South Bend, Ind.
