LAWRENCE, Kan. – The UNO track and field team returned to action in the Jayhawk Classic hosted by Kansas on Friday afternoon. Junior #Kayla Koepke and freshman Kayla Murphy# earned top-four finishes in their respective events. The Mavericks sent only a limited number of athletes to the meet.
Murphy picked up fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.21, a new personal best.
Koepke finished fourth in the 400 m with a time of 57.58, just .06 seconds behind the third-place finisher.
In the shot put, #Heather Minssen# finished second in the shot put with a throw just over 48 feet, short of her nation-leading mark of 49 feet, 2 ¼ inches.
UNO pentathlete Shannon Moore continues the action on Saturday for the Mavericks at the Husker Multi Challenge in Lincoln.
