U.S., Blais In Gold Medal Game of World Junior Cha

SASKATOON, Sask. - Team USA, coached by UNO hockey coach #Dean Blais#, will play for the gold medal in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship. The U.S. earned its spot in the game following a 5-2 win over Sweden in the semifinals on Sunday.
The Americans will face Canada in the title game on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. CT. The game can be seen live on the NHL Network. Check with your cable or satellite provider for availability.
This will be the second meeting of the tournament between the two teams. Canada beat the U.S. 5-4 in a shootout on New Year's Eve. The Canadians are seeking an unprecedented sixth straight gold medal. The U.S. was the last team other than Canada to win the championship, beating the Canadians in 2004.
On Sunday, Jerry D'Amigo of RPI had two goals, including a shorthander, as Team USA beat broke a 2-2 tie in the third period. Tyler Johnson, John Carlson and A.J. Jenks also scored for Team USA. Goaltender Mike Lee out of St. Cloud State stopped 27 shots for his fourth win of the tournament.
"We've gotten better every game of the tournament," Blais told USA Hockey's web site. "We worked really hard tonight, and we put ourselves right in the position we wanted to be."
Team USA is just the third team to emerge from the quarterinal round to play in the gold medal game. The U.S. beat Finland 6-2 on Saturday.
