Mavericks To Honor Blais, Team USA

OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO Mavericks will honor the gold medal achievement of head hockey coach #Dean Blais# and Team USA with a ceremony and autograph signing during their weekend series against Alaska on Friday and Saturday, January 8 and 9.
Blais coached the Americans to the gold medal at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship earlier this week. The U.S. beat Canada 6-5 in overtime for the second gold medal in U.S. history. Canada had won five straight gold medals.
On Saturday, Blais will sign photos of Team USA from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for the first 2,000 fans. Blais' gold medal will be on display in the concourse of the Qwest Center during Friday's game. There will also be video tributes to Blais and Team USA that will run throughout the weekend.
The Mavericks host Alaska on Friday, Jan. 8 at 7:35 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all UNO hockey games are on sale at the Qwest Center box office and at the Sapp Fieldhouse box office.
