Mavericks Make Debut in College Hockey Poll

OMAHA, Neb. - After wins in the Mutual of Omaha Stampede, the UNO hockey team cracked college hockey's top 20, coming in at 17th in the latest USCHO.com weekly poll. The Mavericks had previously received votes in the poll but weren't ranked.
The Mavs received 187 points in the weekly voting, putting them between #16 Union College and #18 Colorado College.
Defending national champion Boston College was number one again this week, receiving 998 votes. North Dakota was second at 916 and Michigan was third at 833.
North Dakota is one of three WCHA teams in the top ten. Denver comes in at sixth and Minnesota Duluth at seventh. In all, eight WCHA teams are in the top 20 including St. Cloud State (11), Minnesota (13), Wisconsin (15), UNO and Colorado College.
The Mavericks also received 19 points in the voting for the USA Today/USA Hockey Poll released late Monday.
The Mavericks will play their first WCHA games on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 15 and 16 when they visit the #13 Golden Gophers. Game time on each night is 7:07 p.m. from Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis.
