Mavericks Climb In Polls To Number 10

OMAHA, Neb. - A weekend sweep of Minnesota has given the UNO hockey team a big boost in the weekly college hockey polls. The Mavericks are now ranked tenth in both the USCHO.com poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey poll, their highest ranking since the 2005-06 season.
The Mavericks also made their debut in the latest power rankings from the web site Inside College Hockey, coming in at 16.
UNO moved up seven spots in the USCHO.com poll following 5-4 and 4-2 wins over Minnesota last weekend in their WCHA debut. The Mavs also earned the tenth spot in the USA Today poll after receiving votes but no ranking last week.
The last time UNO reached the top ten was February of 2006 after the teamput together a nine-game unbeaten streak capped by a win and a tie over Michigan.
The Mavericks will have a stiff test to maintain that spot as they visit the third-ranked Wolverines for games on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 22 and 23. Both games start at 6:35 p.m. CT and can be heard live on KVNO 90.7 FM.
