Mavericks Send Four Over The Line in Viking Invita

DES MOINES, Iowa - The UNO cross country team was back in action at the Viking Invitational hosted by Grand View College on Friday afternoon at Ewing Park. Freshman #Kayla Fenske# ran a career-best time to pace the Mavericks.

UNO did not receive a team score because it did not finish with the required five runners due to an injury to #Megan Oddo#. Mount Mercy won the race with a score of 34 points followed by Morningside (44) and host Grand View (49).

Fenske was UNO's top finisher with a time of 20:44 over the five kilometer course, good for seventh overall.

#Nicole Behm# was second for the Mavericks and 21st overall with a time of 21:32, followed closely by teammate #Brittany Phillips# who was clocked at 21:42, good for 23rd.

#Marielle Svaerdh#, a transfer from North Iowa Community College and running in her first race as a Maverick, finished in 46th place with a time of 24:17.

UNO returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Briar Cliff Invite in Sioux City, Iowa.
