OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO hockey team will reach a milestone faster than any other Division I team when it welcomes its 2,000,000th fan on Friday, Nov. 19. On that night, the Mavericks host the North Dakota Fighting Sioux in a battle to two teams ranked in the top 10 in the country. The Mavericks are fourth while the Sioux are seventh and eighth.
“The fact that we will host our 2,000,000th fan in a little more than 13 seasons is clear evidence of the outstanding support we have received from fans in Omaha since the very beginning of UNO hockey,” said #Trev Alberts#, UNO's Director of Athletics. “Our fans are some of the best in the country, and this night is a recognition of everyone who has cheered for the Mavericks over the years.”
The 2,000,000th fan through the turnstiles will receive a prize package that includes season tickets for four to the Mavericks' 2011-2012 season, tickets for four to the Red Baron WCHA Final Five in St. Paul, Minn. in March, three nights accommodations at the Crowne Plaza St. Paul Riverfront Hotel during the WCHA Final Five, a year's supply of burritos courtesy of Qdoba and a UNO hockey jersey.
The Mavericks will play North Dakota on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7:37 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7:07 p.m. Tickets for both games are on sale at the Qwest Center box office, at Sapp Fieldhouse on the UNO campus and on-line at OmahasTeam.com.
