Mavericks Qualify Two For Cross Country Nationals

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - For the first time in recent memory, the UNO cross country team will send runners to the NCAA Division II National Championship. Mavericks Anja Puc and #Katarina Zarudnaya# both qualified as individuals at the 2010 South Central Regional on Saturday at the University of Central Missouri.
As a team, the Mavericks finished in 10th place with a score of 251. Fellow MIAA member Pittsburg State won the meet with a score of 66 followed by Midwestern State at 108. Missouri Southern was third with a score of 130. The top three teams advance to the national meet.
Puc finished second overall in a time of 22:23 to pace the Mavs. Zarudnaya was right behind in fifth place overall in a time of 22:31. By placing in the top 15, both were named to the all-region team.
#Brittany Phillips# placed third for the Mavericks, coming in at 24:56, good for 69th place. #Nicole Behm# was 84th in a time of 25:20 while #Kayla Fenske# was hot on her heels, finishing in 25:29, good for 91st place. #Megan Oddo# clocked a time of 25:52 to finish 98th overall.
The National Championship meet will be held on Dec. 4 in Louisville, Ken.
