Mavericks Reach New Heights in Weekly Polls

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO hockey team reached its highest spot in the weekly hockey polls in nearly a decade with a number six ranking in the latest USCHO.com poll. The Mavericks also were ranked seventh in most recent USA Today/USA Hockey Poll.

The Mavericks also moved up three spots to 11th in the latest power rankings compiled by InsideCollegeHockey.com.

The highest UNO has ever been ranked was fifth in October of 2001 following a sweep of then-number one Michigan State.

The Mavericks also received one first-place vote in the USCHO.com poll. They finished with 717 points in the voting, just ahead of 2010 NCAA Champion Boston College.

UNO is the second-highest-rated school from the WCHA in either poll. Minnesota Duluth is ranked second in both polls. The Mavericks and the Bulldogs are the only teams in Division I hockey with seven wins at this point in the season.

UNO returns to action on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12 and 13 when they visit St. Cloud State. Both games from the National Hockey Center begin at 7:07 p.m.
