Mavs Give Up Six-Run Third in Loss to Panthers

JOPLIN, Mo. - The Mavericks never recovered after giving up six runs in the third as they fell, 7-4 Friday night to Drury in their first game in the Missouri Southern/Pittsburg State Crossover.
#Molly Feichtinger and Emma Wright each had a pair of hits and Lindsey Slocum and Julia Krejci# drove in two runs each.
The Mavericks (3-4) committed three errors in the third inning and the Panthers capitalized for six runs. Melissa Negrete was pitching for the Mavs while Drury did its damage but none of the runs were earned.
Krecji got the Mavs on the board in the fourth with a two-run homer and then Slocum got her two RBI with a single in the fifth and then a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Negrete was pulled with two outs in the second and Beth Haley pitched the rest of the game. She allowed seven hits but gave up just one run.
The Mavs will continue action in Joplin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. against Northwest Missouri and at 4 p.m. against Southeastern Oklahoma.
