Moore Sets School Record on Day One of MIAA Indoor

JOPLIN, Mo. – UNO's #Shannon Moore# set a new school record in the 60 meter hurdles on her way to a second place finish in the pentathlon on the first day of competition at the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Central Missouri's Lindsay Lettow won the event with 3,845 points. Moore earned 3,800 points followed by Anne Carlson, also of Central Missouri, at 3,693. Moore's point total is third in the nation, and her hurdles time ranks sixth.
Moore ran a time of 8.56 in the hurdles, one of the three events she won on the day. That broke the old UNO mark of 8.59 set by Anastasia Kyvelidou in 2005.
Moore also won the shot put with a throw of 38 feet, ten and a half inches. That beat Carlson's second-place mark by more than a foot.
Moore also took first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.33, just beating out Lettow who finished second at 2:22.66.
Lettow was able to edge Moore because of her performances in the jumps. She won the high jump with a leap of five feet, five and three-quarter inches. Moore tied Carlson for third at five feet, three and one quarter.
Lettow won the long jump as well with a jump of 18 feet, four and a half inches. Moore finished eighth at 16 feet, 11 ½ inches.
The second day of competition begins on Saturday afternoon with the triple jump at 1:30 p.m.
