JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - #Julia Krejci# hit a pair of home runs and had six RBI as the Mavericks swept Lincoln (Mo.) Wednesday afternoon. Nebraska-Omaha won the opener, 9-2 and then got the final game, 11-1.
Krejci hit a two-run homer in the second inning of the first game and then she led off the seventh inning of game two with a long ball to ignite a five-run inning for UNO.
#Lindsey Slocum# earned the win in the opener. She went the distance and allowed one earned run off six hits. She struck out eight and didn't allow a walk.
The Mavericks had 14 hits in the opener. Krejci went 3 for 4 and #Kristi Meneely# had three RBI off a pair of singles.
The Mavericks were just as explosive in the second game, though they were kept off the scoreboard until the fourth inning. They hit four home runs with #Treightin Yates and Kristin Wellwoodt# getting things started in the fourth with a pair of solo blasts. Meneely hit one in the sixth and Krejci got her second of the day in the seventh.
#Melissa Negrete# got the win in the second game. She went the distance and allowed four hits and an earned run while striking out five.
The Mavericks will continue action this week at the MIAA Southern Crossover in Warrensburg, Mo., with five games Friday and Saturday.
