Sprinters Lead Mavericks at Nebraska Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. - UNO's corps of sprinters earned some of the best finishes at the one-day Nebraska Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Mavericks picked up the top two finishes in the 200 meters and three of the top eight.
#Maja Mihalinec# won the 200 in a time of 24.88, the best time by a Mavericks this season and just off her personal best of 24.09. #Kayla Koepke# was just behind in second with a time of 25.06. #Molly Belling# earned eighth place in a time of 25.34.
Belling also earned a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 12.41.
#Lisa Tesarek# came in eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2.22.23.
In the field events, newcomer #Sami Spenner# picked up a fifth place in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, four and three-quarter inches. The freshman transfer from Columbus, Neb. also placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, eight and one-quarter inches.
The Mavericks return to action at the Mule Relays hosted by Central Missouri on Friday, April 16 at 1 p.m. in Warrensburg, Mo.
