OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks dropped their third conference match of the season Saturday morning at the Koch Tennis Center by a score of 7-2. The loss is UNO's sixth in eight matches as they fall to 6-7 overall and 1-3 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
In doubles play, UNO was unable to get things started as #Drew Mercier and Matt Frost# fell in No. 1 doubles, 8-3. #Jon McQuistan and Eric McKnight# made it close in No. 2 doubles but ultimately lost to Ben Rusk and Stephen Hipkiss of Truman, 8-6.
Singles started off well for the Mavs as junior #Drew Mercier# was victorious in No. 1 singles over Peter Bracha of TSU, 7-5, 3-6 (10-8). Freshman #Andrew Lescelius# saw action in No. 6 singles and made the most of it as he won, 7-5, 6-3. The victory is Lescelius' third overall in singles for the year.
The men's tennis squad looks to right the ship before entering the MIAA tournament as they take on the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State University this Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
