Mavs Host Bearcats In Four-Game Tilt This Weekend

MIAA Standings
The Nebraska-Omaha baseball team will continue its 10-game homestand this weekend with a four-game series against Northwest Missouri State. The Mavericks and Bearcats will open with doubleheader on Saturday, April 24 with the first game slated for a 12 p.m. start. The two teams will play another doubleheader on Sunday, April 25 with the first game scheduled for 12 p.m. #Joe Holtmeyer# is scheduled to start the first game on Saturday and will look to record his school record 113th strikeout of the season. There will be special promotions on both days of the series at the Ballpark at Boys Town.
A Look At The Bearcats
The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats enter the series with a 16-28 overall record along side a 14-16 mark in the conference, which currently puts them at seventh in the MIAA standings. The Bearcats dropped a non-conference contest to Nebraska-Kearney on April 20 by a score of 11-2. NWMSU is 11-6 in the month of April and has won series against Truman, Southwest Baptist and Pittsburg State while dropping three of four games to Emporia State.

UNO leads the all-time series 32-28 and is 3-1 against NWMSU since joining the MIAA last season. The Mavericks won last year's four-game tilt by taking three of the four games and outscored the Bearcats 43-17 on their home field.

The Coaches
#Bob Herold# begins his 11th season as head coach of the Mavericks. The 1972 graduate of UNO was a 1971 NAIA All-American for the Mavericks. He is 369-217 (.629) all-time as a college head coach. The Maverick skipper picked up his 350th career win against on March 7 with a 9-8 win over Missouri Southern State. Herold is assisted by Chris Gadsden (11th Season) and Dan McGinn (10th Season).
Darin Loe begins his 11th season at Northwest Missouri State and 17th as a head coach in 2010. Northwest finished 2009 with a record of 25-31, snapping Loe's streak of seven consecutive winning seasons at Northwest.
What's On Tap?
UNO will wrap up its regular season action when Central Missouri, the second ranked team in Division II visits for a four-game series. The Mavericks and Mules will open the series on Friday, April 30 with a scheduled nine inning game which is slated for 2 p.m. The two teams will play ball for the first time in May with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1, with the first game at 1 p.m. The series will conclude with one game on Sunday, May 2 at 1 p.m.
