Mavs Swept by Bearcats

BOLIVAR, Mo. - The UNO men's tennis team was swept in their first MIAA match Saturday morning as they were defeated by the Southwest Baptist Bearcats, 9-0. The loss is the third time the Mavs have been blanked by their opponents this season. The Mavericks fall to 5-5 overall and 0-1 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The #31 Bearcats improve to 9-8 overall and 4-1 in MIAA play.
In No. 1 singles, #Drew Mercier# fought in the closest competition of the day as he was defeated by Marton Zsiga of Southwest Baptist, 6-1, 4-6 (10-7). #Chase Petersen# stayed at eight wins overall in singles as he was downed by Jorge Palacios, 6-0, 6-0.
The Mavericks' luck was not any different in the doubles competition as the No. 1 doubles pairing of #Drew Mercier and Matt Frost# lost to the Bearcats' pairing, 8-4. In No. 2 doubles, #Eric McKnight and Jon McQuistan# suffered their third defeat as a pairing when they were beaten, 8-5.
The men's squad heads back home to face South Dakota State on Tuesday, April 6 at 4 p.m.
